About Us

Lastovica Angus Farm started in 1977 when Robert bought his first show heifer, a purchase made possible by the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Calf Scramble Program. More than 40 years later, the program continues to thrive in producing registered Angus females that can perform both in and out of the show ring; functional herd sires suitable for commercial, purebred and clubby operations; and high quality Angus and black exotic steers that have proven competitive on the Texas major show circuit.

At the core of our business is family. Robert and Abban, Logan, Mary Avery, Piper and Townes, Mollie, Canaan and Charlie, and Mattie take pride in the tradition and work ethic that have come to fruition in running a family business. Logan, Mollie and Mattie had a lot of success during their 16 years in the show ring and were also active in 4-H, the Texas Junior Angus Association and the National Junior Angus Association.

Today, we remain focused on producing cattle with superior phenotypes, acceptable pedigrees and balanced EPDs. We are a versatile operation and take pride in building meaningful and lasting relationships with our customers. Nestled in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, we invite you to plan a visit to our farm and hope to welcome you into our cattle family.

Dr. Robert & Abban Lastovica

By day, you’ll find Robert working as a mixed-animal veterinarian at his clinic, Friendship Veterinary Center and Abban working as the managing owner of Paws and Claws Pet Resort after retiring from Fredericksburg I.S.D where she was most recently a dyslexia specialist. Both graduates of Texas A&M University with degrees in animal science, they have called Fredericksburg home for more than 30 years and are passionate about raising cattle in the heart of the Texas Hill Country. When they aren’t busy with their cattle and small businesses, the Lastovicas enjoy spending time with their family (especially their four grandchildren), friends and relaxing in the pool. Robert was active in the Texas Junior Angus Association as a child and he and Abban served as TJAA advisors while their children were showing cattle.

Logan & Mary Avery Lastovica

Logan started showing cattle in 1998 and paved the way for his generation of Lastovicas in the show ring. Logan graduated from the United States Air Force Academy in 2012 with a degree in astronautical engineering. After his service in the United States Air Force, Logan attended the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding where he became a skilled craftsman at the trade. Today, Logan works for a naval architect in Port Townsend, Washington, and raises his adorable children, Piper and Townes, alongside his wife, Mary Avery, who works as a nanny. The Lastovicas are foodies, as well as avid hikers, campers, skiers and all-around lovers of the outdoors.

Mollie & Canaan Dreibrodt

Mollie followed in her brother’s footsteps, beginning her cattle showing career in 2000. She and her husband, Canaan, daughter, Charlie, and son, Bennett, continue to stay involved in the LAF operation by overseeing marketing and managing a small herd of composite cattle on Canaan’s family farm in Zorn. Located in New Braunfels, Mollie works as a marketing and communications consultant through Dreibrodt Consulting and part-time for global communications agency FleishmanHillard. Canaan is an assistant principal at Canyon Lake High School. Both Canaan and Mollie are graduates of Texas A&M University’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and enjoy attending Aggie sporting events, spending quality time with family and friends and trying new restaurants.

Dr. Mattie Lastovica

Mattie rounded out the Lastovica trio and started showing cattle in 2006. After graduating high school, Mattie attended Vanderbilt University where she received her undergraduate degree in child development. From there, Mattie attended medical school at the University of Texas - Rio Grande Valley and she is currently in residency at UT Southwestern in Dallas in pursuit of her dream career as a developmental pediatrician. When she’s not saving lives or studying, Mattie enjoys hanging out with her friends and family, as well as baking.
